What Celtic myth would you recommend I meditate on to calm my palpitating heart over mounting debts?
Celtic *specifically* please. It doesn't have to be about money or debts per se, but it needs to teach about how to get through lean times when abundance is coming "late". I got a job, but the first paycheck doesn't come until just a few days after the debts are due again, and some of those debts are already overdue... :( I DO NOT want your "advice" on how to manage my money "better". I just want some suggestions for Celtic myths to read to get my mind and heart off the stress. I *have* already called those I owe to, and it's not helping. As I said, I do not want "advice". I've done everything I can up to this point. I am quite capable of being in control of my life, thank you all the same. Just give me a story I can soothe my soul with.

- I AM going to give you advice about how to manage your money, whether you like it or not. RING the people you owe the money to, explain your situation, and then you won't have to bury your head in the sand.
- You might want to read and meditate on Cerriddwen's Cauldron. That may help you to take your mind off your $ woes. Or if that doesn't appeal you could meditate on Brigid. Being a threefold goddess she has much to teach us about living in general as well as how to be a warrior in self advocation and the protection of the family and hearth & home. Good Luck to you. Blessed Be! LL
- that is a hard one. the Celts were primarily a warrior society. and as such most of their mythology has to do with overcoming great odds. invincible opponets. the story of Oroum of the Evil eye comes to mind. Oroum was a Formorian (giant) that stood 18 feet tall. he was fearless in battle. but for all of his battle prowess he could not defeat his own mortality. he prayed to the goddess of death and asked for everlasting life. and she granted it. as always with a catch. that he would grow a third eye. and anything that that eye looked upon would be utterly destroied. however many gods saw the danger of this. and conspired to make the third eyelid so heavy that it would take 4 men to lift it for Oroum. Oroum found said men. and used his new power to forge a vast army. and he marched acrost the land laying waste everywhere he went. he marched from europe to the deserts of the east. and into africa leaving a swath of destruction. when he came upon a young Celtic King in the southern lands. he damanded surrender. to which the king refused. the next day battle would begin. the king went to his druid and asked for a weapon to defeat the giant. the druid enchanted a club for him. on the battlefield the King watched in horror as 4 men pulled heavy ropes to life the evil eye. and began to charge into battle. however the druid told him to wait untill the eye was completly open to strike the first blow. the king watched as the eye slowly opened and devistated everything that he loved. and still the druid told him to waite. as the eye came fully open the druid told the king to strike and to strike hard. the king ran foreward. the enemy army did not even try to stop him knowing that the gaze of oroum would destroy him. but the king was under his vision. he got up to oroum and struk a mighty blow to his knee. dropping him to one knee. and then struk the mightiest blow in history. spinning his head completly around and breaking his neck.... the last vision of Oroum of the Evil Eye.......was his own army.. being disentigrated by his awful power. ********************* in ritual Oroum will teach patience and cunning in battle. and help you to overcome overconfidence. possibly the part about patience will help you. i guess it would depend on how you apply it.
- Pwyll Prince of Dyfed (the 1st Branch of the Mabinogion,) includes the title character gaining much after a year-long test in the Otherworld. Manawyddan the Son of Llyr (the 3rd Branch,) includes the title character's farming yields being stolen again & again, until he finally discovers & catches the (magical) culprit.
